Landing page design is the difference between a sale and a bounce. So you’ve managed to get a good flow of traffic to your landing page? Congratulations that’s not easy; it’s also not worth a dime if you don’t close the sale. The only way you’re going to turn that traffic into conversions is if you’ve got a persuasive landing page that closes the deal so here’s a few professional design tips to help you on your way:
1. Concentrate on providing clear, convincing text and images. Remember less is more – lengthy flash animations can take an age to load or may fail to load completely. Never place your text within an image in case it fails to load. Another issue is that Google can’t read flash animation so it won’t produce any traffic for your site.
2. You need to win your customer’s trust and convince them of the value of your product. Positive testimonials are a good way of doing this. Other good ideas include free trials, samples and money back guarantees. People always love to think they’re getting something for free.
3. Make sure your landing page design is aesthetically consistent with any other promotional materials you might be using, e.g. banner ads, press releases, etc. If you have a logo make it prominent and use the same colors all the time (the colors of your brand).
4. Be wary of requesting information from your customers, not only will they view it as a hassle but it’ll also make them suspicious.
At the end of the day landing page design is not an exact science, these suggestions are meant to guide you, if you think you can generate more sales by breaking one or all of these rules then by all means go ahead, remember cash is king.
